If you’re planning a visit to the Phi Phi Islands or you’re already there, whether on a day trip from Phuket or staying overnight. You’re probably on the lookout for those picture-perfect spots. Phi Phi isn’t just a destination you visit. It’s one you capture. From sunrise viewpoints to hidden lagoons only accessible by boat, the islands offer countless opportunities for stunning photos. If you know where to go (and when).
As a boat tour operator running trips to and around Phi Phi every day. We’ve seen exactly where guests get their best shots. Here’s where you’ll want your camera ready.

No list would be complete without Maya Bay made famous by The Beach.
The towering cliffs that wrap around the bay create a natural amphitheatre, and when the light hits just right, the water turns a glowing emerald blue.
Photo tip:
Visit early in the morning. Not only is the light softer (ideal for photos), but you’ll avoid the larger crowds that arrive later in the day.
Tucked within Phi Phi Leh, Pileh Lagoon is often described as a natural swimming pool.
Surrounded by sheer limestone cliffs, the still water creates mirror-like reflections. Perfect for those clean, high-contrast shots.
Selfie tip:
A traditional longtail boat in your frame adds scale and a classic Thai aesthetic. Many guests arrange a short photo stop here specifically for this.

Viking Cave is less about beaches and more about texture and scale.
The rugged limestone façade, combined with the dark cave entrance, creates a striking contrast. Especially when photographed from the water.
Photography tip:
Shoot from the boat with a wide-angle lens (or your phone’s wide mode) to capture the full height of the cliffs.
Located on Phi Phi Don, Monkey Beach offers something a bit different.
Here, wild monkeys roam freely along the shoreline. Making for fun, candid photo opportunities.
Word of advice:
For your safety and theirs, always keep a respectful distance from the monkeys. They may look playful, but they are wild animals and can become unpredictable. Especially if they feel threatened or expect food. The best photos come from observing natural behaviour from a safe distance, not getting too close.

For that postcard-perfect shot of the island’s unique shape, head up to the Phi Phi Viewpoint.
From here, you’ll see the narrow strip of land connecting two bays. One of the most recognisable views in southern Thailand.
A short boat ride away, Bamboo Island offers a completely different look.
Think powdery white sand, flat calm water, and uninterrupted horizons. Great for that stunning beach shots.
