Greetings from Phuket! Captain Mark here again. If you’ve stumbled upon this blog, chances are you’re in search of an unforgettable island getaway on Phi Phi Island, and you’ve come to the right place. Phi Phi Island is a tropical paradise that has stunning white beaches, crystal-clear waters, and towering limestone cliffs that will leave you in awe.

With so much to see and do, your visit to Phi Phi will never be boring. I’ve taken the time to put together a bucket list of the top must-visit places and things to do in Phi Phi Island, from snorkeling in vibrant coral reefs to exploring the bustling nightlife. So, let’s jump right in!

PHUKET BUCKET LIST: THE MUST VISIT PLACES IN PHI PHI

1. Phi Phi Le & Maya Bay

After The Beach (2000) movie was released, Phi Phi Le became really famous as it was the location for the movie. Phi Phi Le is known for its amazing natural beauty with cliffs that drop dramatically into turquoise water. There are no places to stay on the island so visitors can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere either before or after most tour boats leave. Don’t miss the breathtaking sunset at Maya Bay where the sky turns a beautiful mix of red and pink colors.

2. Try Snorkeling In Hat Yao

Haad Sai Kaew means ‘Glass Sand Beach’ in Thai is a beautiful endless beach located at the very north of Phuket Island. During the high season, The sea over there has a beautiful blue tone and walking alone for miles; you would never guess you are still in Phuket. It is also home to some great small seafood restaurants.

3. Escape to Pileh Lagoon

Pileh Lagoon is a beautiful spot on the east coast of Phi Phi Leh. The almost completely enclosed lagoon is surrounded by towering limestone cliffs, the water is deep, clear and refreshing. A beautiful spot to stop and swim.

4. Visit Mosquito Island

Mosquito Island is a beautiful place for swimming and snorkeling, however to allow the natural environment to rejuvenate, the island has been off limits for several years now. Nearby however are some great diving sites, with coral and heaps of tropical fish.

Mosquito Island is called that for a reason – it’s full of mosquitos that can be really annoying. Be sure to pack some insect repellent to keep them away. But don’t worry, because the island has some of the most famous shipwrecks around. One of them is the King Cruiser wreck, which is a top spot for diving. It’s a massive ship that’s over 85m (279ft) long! Divers love exploring the wreckage and the surrounding area, so bring your gear and get ready for an adventure!

5. Bamboo Island

Bamboo Island, or ‘Koh Phai’ in Thai, is a stunning part of the Phi Phi islands found in Krabi Province, Thailand. It’s about 5 kilometers northeast of Koh Phi Phi Don, and it’s like a tropical heaven on earth. The island is about 600 meters wide and 700 meters long, with a gorgeous white sand beach that surrounds it completely. On the north west corner there is some of the best snorkeling you will see, about 100m off the beach.

6. Phi Phi Viewpoint

Phi Phi Viewpoint is a popular attraction on Koh Phi Phi Don. The island is shaped like the letter ‘H’, and the village is built on a stretch of sand that sits between Dalum Bay and Tonsai Bay. The viewpoint is located on the east side of the sandbar and offers a stunning panoramic view of the village and the two bays.

THINGS TO DO ON PHI PHI ISLAND

If you’re planning on staying overnight on Phi Phi Island, then you’ll definitely want to take advantage of all the activities and experiences that the island has to offer. Below are some of the things to do on Phi Phi island.

1. Go Shark Watching

If you’re looking to see some cool sharks while you’re at Phi Phi, you’re in luck! There are blacktip reef and leopard sharks that patrol the waters around the islands. To see them up close, you’ll need to get up early and take a boat tour from Phi Phi Don. The best place to see them is at Shark Point, which is just off Long Beach. But it’s important to choose a tour operator that’s responsible and doesn’t feed the sharks, so they have enough space to swim around.

Since the restrictions on tourism at Maya Bay have been implemented, blacktip reef sharks have also returned to the bay. It is common to see them swim up and down the beach. Relax, they are harmless.

2. Rock Climbing In Phi Phi

Phi Phi Don island is an ideal destination for rock climbing enthusiasts. With tall limestone cliffs and exceptional climbing opportunities, it’s a paradise for climbers. Tonsai Tower, located at the western end of Tonsai Bay, offers 48 bolted routes ranging from beginner to experienced climbers. Whether you’re a seasoned climber or a beginner, Phi Phi Don’s topography makes it a must-visit destination for rock climbing.
