Phang Nga Bay by Sailboat Tour (Koh Phanak Cave & Hong Tour)
Come aboard with us and see the best scenery in the world. Beautiful limestone formations rising straight up out of the sea... and better still, going ashore to explore the hidden lagoons (hongs), caves, and the haunted pirate lair (true, Captain Mark has seen and heard the ghost, but is waiting on directions to the treasure).
On our Koh Phanak Sail Caves and Hongs Tour we explore the caves and hongs (hidden lagoons), and find an isolated beach where we swim and have a picnic lunch. This tour is in Phang Nga Bay, home of the beautiful limestone Karst scenery. The day begins with a pick up from your hotel at around 7.45 am, arriving at the yacht at 8.45 am. We head off to Kho Phanak (Phanak Island), and either sail or motor to get there by 11.00 am.
On the way we discuss where we are going, and eat fruit, fried chicken, and whatever hot or cold drinks people want. We also seek out fishermen to buy fresh seafood, usually prawns or crabs. This depends upon luck on the day however. Arriving at Kho Phanak we get into the dinghy, and start exploring the caves, hongs and lagoons. We make a great effort to keep away from other tour operators, and visit places that we have to ourselves. Around mid day we find a quiet beach for our picnic. Here we eat swim and snooze. Lunch is cooked entirely aboard and is very fresh. We have Thai soup, usually Tom Yum Guy (chicken soup) a Thai curry (not too hot), stir fried vegetables, rice, and whatever seafood we bought on the way. Beer is available on this tour for 50 baht a can.
On this tour the water is a pretty milky green from the limestone. As such it is fine for swimming, but visibility is too poor for good snorkeling. On the return we have cheese and crackers and a beer or two. Most days the lovely evening breeze sails us back to port arriving at around 5.30 pm, and have you back at your hotel at around 6.30 pm.
Please note that it is necessary to climb a short ladder to board the sail boat, and in some of the caves a very little climbing may be required. If you have difficulty with this perhaps this is not the best tour for you. If you choose this tour we will however be on hand to assist and see that you have the best experience that we can provide. Very few people have problems, and if any of our guests choose to skip an activity it is no problem at all to spend a bit more time relaxing on the boat and enjoying the scenery and refreshments.
There is a video of a typical Koh Phanak Sail Caves and Hongs tour here, please note there may be some changes on the day.
