Secrets of Phang Nga Bay by Big Boat Tour
For years we have been entranced by the beautiful places away from the crowds, where no one else goes. Lonely caves, still waterways overhung by mangroves and chattering monkeys, beautiful cave formations, the Boomerang Hong where you can swim at the secret beach surrounded by nature alone, and so much more. Explore the out of the way waterways, visit the majestic mangrove forest, where local people still use traditional fishing traps to earn their living.
To enjoy and really soak up the atmosphere at the places we will take you to, we take a large, self contained boat. Aboard are a maximum of 20 adult likeminded travelers, the crew, our cooks in their well equipped kitchen, canoes for all, experienced paddle men, and your guide to manage your day and see you get the best experience available.
The big boat is spacious (it is licensed for around 50 passengers, so we are not even half full) with plenty of room aboard, and is ideal for families with children of all ages. The big boat offers the smoothest boat ride of all, so is suitable for pregnant people or anyone concerned about the bumping of a speed boat.
It is necessary to climb a short ladder/stairway to get to the upper deck on the boat. There are always plenty of helpers on hand if anyone needs extra assistance.
It is true, no one else conducts a tour that is at all similar to our Secrets of Phang Nga Bay tour.
This is what the program looks like, but it varies day by day to make the best of tide, weather, and sea conditions.
Pick up at your hotel at about 8 am in an air conditioned minibus. You will arrive at our office at Ao Por, about 45-60 minutes later. Here we meet on the shores of Phang Nga Bay, where the best part of your adventure awaits you.
Meeting up with your guide, and the guests you will be spending your day with, you will have the chance to enjoy a light breakfast, snacks, tea coffee, and a toilet break.
Lawa Island, our first stop, provides a beautiful quiet white sand beach. Here we swim from the boat and on the beautiful beach. Usually, just us.
Next, we head to the nearby mangrove forest. Here we will be paddled through the serene waterways, surrounded by nature. The paddle men will show you the forest and some of their traditional fishing practices. Truly a sublime experience. Some of the best scenery you never imagined. Untouched by tourism.
Later we head to the Glass Cave (sometimes called Elephant Cave), beautiful flowstone formations, and lots of bats. For those who like that sort of thing.
Back on board we settle down for a genuine Thai feast, all freshly cooked aboard. Massuman curry, tom yum guy, stir fried vegetables, green chicken curry, steamed rice, and fresh sea food. Platters of fresh local fruit.
While enjoying lunch we cruise across the bay and close by James Bond island. Given the tide conditions on the day we will get as close to the island as we can for your photo taking, but as with our other trips we will not go ashore. You will see why, the island is far too busy for us, souvenir stalls, tourists, and boats smother the island, but you will get your photo and can tick the box. We don't hang around, we have another surprise for you.
Tide permitting, after lunch we head to the secret Boomerang Hong, discovered by Captain Mark many years ago, when exploring the bay in his sail boat, the Sakai. A beautiful spot where you can swim off the boat, or explore the secret beach hidden inside the lagoon. If you want, you can canoe around this pretty little island.
Heading towards home we call in at Koh Phanak, late in the day when most of the other tour boats have gone home. On this magnificent island we have a range of caves and hidden lagoons to choose from, for your final canoeing experience of the day.
We return to the pier about 5.00 pm, tired, happy, and full to the brim with wonderful memories you will cherish forever.
In the minibus by 5.30 pm or so, you should be back at your hotel by around 6.30 pm.
For those who wish to take a break from any activities, such as canoeing, it is fine to relax on boat, enjoy a few refreshments and soak up the beautiful scenery. You can take your time to enjoy the tour the way you want to.
As with all our tours, light breakfast, all equipment, national park fees, insurance, free flow of snacks, soft drinks and the sumptuous lunch are all included in the price. Transfers from the main tourist areas of Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala, Surin, and Bang Tao are included. No hidden extras.
We look forward to seeing you aboard!
